Living in Kitami
Kitami is a city of about 110,000 people in eastern Hokkaido. The cost of living is significantly lower than in major Japanese cities, especially rent. Winters bring heavy snowfall, but the city infrastructure handles it well. Kitami is also known as the curling capital of Japan, home to national team training facilities. The natural environment — mountains, lakes, and the Sea of Okhotsk — is spectacular.
